Dr. Sharma, completed his MS (General Surgery) and M.Ch (Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery) from AIIMS, New Delhi, and has undergone training in Ventricular Assist Device at Berkeley, USA. He did his fellowship in Paediatric Cardiovascular Surgery from Children’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, USA and Marry Ann Knight Hospital for Children, Miami, USA.
Dr. Rajesh Sharma has performed over 20,000 cardiac surgical procedures in his career, which comprised of both the adult and congenital heart diseases. His field of interest involves the surgical treatment of complex congenital heart diseases. Since 1991, Dr. Sharma has performed more than 10,000 cardiac surgical procedures, including surgery for both congenital and acquired heart diseases.
Dr. Sharma was an Additional Professor at the AIIMS, New Delhi with teaching and training responsibilities. Later on he was Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore since the year 2001 to 2007. He was instrumental in training numerous cardiac surgical trainees who are now working at various hospitals across the world.
